Mexico City has established itself as a strategic hub for national and international patients seeking specialized medical care. It boasts private hospitals, highly specialized clinics, and advanced diagnostic and surgical technology, enabling the performance of complex ophthalmological procedures with high safety standards.
My practice is geared especially toward patients seeking a thorough, personalized, and honest ophthalmological evaluation, particularly in cases of:
Cornea
Refractive Surgery
Cataracts
Keratoconus
Second Opinions
Complex Surgical Cases
Personalized Vision Planning
If you are looking for complex cases, a second opinion, high-quality vision, in-depth analysis, and personalized surgery, this is the place for you.
My practice focuses on patients requiring a highly personalized ophthalmological evaluation, especially in complex cases of cornea, refraction, and cataracts.
Not all patients need surgery. And not all patients are candidates for every procedure. Therefore, the goal is not to sell surgery, but to accurately determine the best option for each case.
Confirming a diagnosis
Ruling out risks
Explaining actual limitations
Choosing the right time to operate
Or even deciding against surgery if it is not safe
The priority will always be ocular safety and long-term visual quality.
I have training and experience in Mexico and Spain, as well as international certifications such as the International Council of Ophthalmology and the European Board of Ophthalmology.
This international training allows me to approach cases using broad clinical standards, with special attention to safety, individualized analysis, and evidence-based decision-making.
My main focus is on cornea, refractive surgery, and cataracts, areas where diagnostic and surgical planning can make a significant difference in the final outcome.
I understand that many patients who live outside of Mexico City or abroad wish to have an initial consultation before traveling.
Therefore, it is possible to conduct an initial consultation via:
Video call
Preliminary review of studies submitted by the patient
These tools can be useful for answering initial questions, providing guidance on the case, and planning an in-person visit more effectively.
However, it is essential to clarify that teleophthalmology does not replace a complete in-person ophthalmological evaluation.
To arrive at an accurate diagnosis or indicate the need for surgery, a complete in-person examination will always be necessary, which may include:
Slit-lamp examination
Visual acuity and refraction testing
Corneal topography or tomography
OCT
Pachymetry
Ocular biometry
Retinal evaluation if the case requires it
It may happen that a diagnostic or surgical possibility is raised during a video call, but that new data is found during the in-person evaluation that modifies, postpones, or contraindicates the treatment.
This is not a failure of the process, but rather part of responsible medicine, focused on patient safety.
Ophthalmology has the advantage that many corneal, refractive, and cataract procedures are performed on an outpatient basis, with relatively short recovery times.
Laser refractive surgery
SMILE
PRK
LASIK
Cataract surgery
Phaco-refractive surgery
Corneal crosslinking
Keratoconus treatment
Pterygium
Corneal transplant in selected cases
Each procedure requires an individual evaluation. For international patients, travel planning should consider not only the day of surgery, but also pre-operative studies, post-operative check-ups, and possible plan adjustments.
Practical information for international patients: Mexico City is in the UTC-6 time zone. This is usually the same as Chicago time, although there may be seasonal differences with other countries.
Confirm the exact appointment time based on your country of origin.
Send any previous medical studies before traveling, if available.
Plan sufficient time for evaluation, surgery, and follow-up appointments.
Avoid overly tight travel schedules for complex surgeries.
Arrive with realistic expectations regarding diagnosis, treatment, and recovery.
The goal is to provide efficient care without compromising medical safety.
